This game had sort of a theme of interpersonal relationships overcoming all the corruption of the Dark Age of the Law. I don't remember the other games having a theme that ran through it all like that so that was interesting, and helps justify going darker.

This was truly the doomed yaoi/yuri installment. Aura/Metis, Blackquill/Fulbright, Apollo/Clay, even Athena/Junie was doomed by Junie’s crush on chuuni Apollo. But on the other hand, Phoenix/Edgeworth was well fed this time.

Congrats on finishing the main cases for this game :_bigO: Not a lot of games that have multiple entries with a continuous story so its always a pleasure to watch AA, even after all these years😁

Turns out Apollo going dark and chuuni at the beginning and then returning to his usual self towards the end was symbolism for the dark age of the law beginning and then ending.

You knew the earring would be important because you were attuned to the poetic justice of Metis's gift to Athena being the evidence that would take down her killer, you were meta-gaming.

Ace Attorney vs Professor Layton is perhaps the best game in the series IMO. Rights are probably tough to get though.

Loved the finale of the game and loved the nice long chat we had afterwards, thanks for the wonderful last stream of Dual Destinies! Compared to the other games there were times the story got a bit too out there for my taste, like characters or plot twists weren't as well-motivated as I would have preferred, but the focus on interpersonal relationships was a huge bright spot for me and that made up for it. Cases 4 and 5 I think worked so well because everything that happened was so grounded in relationships we'd been following through most of the game. Even Blackquill's little trick to expose Fulbright's lack of emotions was based in their unique relationship over the course of the game. A lot of the relationships felt complex and real, like the complicated way Aura deals with her grief, coming to hate Athena and blame her for what happened. I like the "Dark Age of the Law" theme too, the idea that a cynicism had taken root in the legal system and led to widespread unethical behavior, and the main characters try to push against it and restore the respect for ethics and norms. Of our four villains, three of them were connected to the justice system somehow—a bomb squad officer, a legal professor, and someone impersonating a police officer). And we saw in lots of smaller ways how it impacted the public, like Aura taking the law into her own hands. I liked having that overriding theme to tie the game together. (Also I appreciated canon yuri. Your predictive powers in these games are always strong, but naturally they would be even stronger on this topic.) Finishing this game did bring us one step closer to finishing all the Ace Attorney games. In some ways it's hard to even imagine what we'll do with ourselves when they're all over, but you usually have excellent taste in games so I'm sure you'll find something interesting.
