This watchalong was quite capital, capital! I was so surprised when we reached the end because It really didn't feel like 6 hours. Especially when you commentated on all of the neat and fun facts about the movie or time period. I love it when you get passionate about a subject or topic. I think the movie did a great job adapting the book, but the TV series definitely had much better pacing. It really allowed the audience time to soak in the character's actions and personalities which made the humor and drama much more impactful. Plus, it made Mr. Darcy's and Elizabeth's growth feel more organic and natural. I felt more engaged in their arcs, and it made the ending so much more rewarding because of it. Overall, this was an entertaining watchalong. Can't wait to see what's next on the list. Enjoy your day off tomorrow, Rissa! Always nice to hang out.

What a fun super long watch-along~ I did the movie watch-along as well, but I have to say I preferred this version a lot more! Both are good of course, but I feel like this adaptation really nails the period better and in general I prefer the casting. The story benefits a lot from being a longer format as well, the movie had to take a lot of shortcuts to make everything fit into a shorter run time. Anyway, I loved spending a lazy Sunday with Rissa and the Jailbirds~ Looking forward to the next one!

Thanks for the watch-along stream. I thought I was going to fall asleep, but your comments and laughter kept me awake, and I enjoyed every moment of each episode. After all the drama, I'm glad there was a good ending with two weddings between Jane/Bingley and Elizabeth/Darcy.

I'm tempted to share an anecdote regarding the first time I'd watched this series; however, I fear that may be uninteresting. Instead, I want to thank you. From one fan of romance to another, it's been so much fun watching these adaptations with you and the other Jailbirds while listening to your commentary. I know you plan to do watchalongs for other adaptations of Jane Austen's works, but I do hope the desire for sharing your love of romance will extend beyond that. Your enthusiasm for the genre is so engaging and I can't help but desire to hear more.

Nothing makes my EN Kami-oshi cuter than seeing her gush for her obsessions with her endearing excitement. I do agree that this mini-series format allows the story to be developed at a more proper pace. Where the movie it can feel a bit rushed in pacing for the characters, scene after scene. Also was surprised Harry From Kingsman was Mr.Darcy for this ! Thanks for the huuuge Nerissium dosage in NNN🦚. And see ya tomorrow in Liar's bar. Looking forward to it !

Didn't change my opinion of Darcy from before, but this was now more detailed, and its always fun to hear your joyful commentary. Its why I always like your watchalongs.

I've learned some things today. 1: I like period peices more then I thought. 2:If I ever have a daughter I'm never letting her marry an officer. 3:Ms Bennet is the most annoying mother character in fiction. 4:Tomorrow I must go to the gym and work on getting the type of body that looks nice after swimming in a pond with a white shirt, like Mr Darcey. 5. Watching things Rissa loves is the best .

This was an epic 6½-hour marathon stream, and I am glad to have watched every minute of it with you and the fellow Jailbirds. There is something about watching in a big group that makes it all the more entertaining. Additionally, I really appreciate you giving us extra context regarding Austen, the era, and the story in general. The 1995 miniseries does a glorious job at letting us see this romance blossom naturally...it gives way to an incredibly rewarding conclusion.

ngl I'm not one to binge a series for 6 hours but this show seriously blew away my expectations. Loved getting to experience a longer P&P with Rissa and the jailbirds. Also getting yet more views of Rissa the hopeless romantic, like dang lady Darcy had you acting up

Thanks for the Pride and Prejudice TV show watchalong, Nerissa! I quite like this version than the movie cause we get to have more in depth with the characters and Mr. Darcy is more expressive than the movie as well as seeing more of its time period. Ms. Bennet was so dramatic I love it, it gives such comedy throughout the show! Both movie and show are good so thanks for showing us and share your passion about Pride and Prejudice!

Your watchalongs were my introduction to Pride and Prejudice, and it has been one of those experiences where you go: "I get it now.", after having heard so much about it in passing. Thank you for properly introducing me to the story and characters. I agree that both versions had their pros and cons, but if I had to say my preference, I like the tv show more currently. The movie was fine and made it easier to sympathize with Mr Darcy, to make us want to cheer for both Darcy and Liz to end up together, but I think the thing that has me choosing the tv show over the movie is that the tv show gives more focus to the characters besides Liz and Darcy, making us more invested on the world besides the "main couple". Through the background characters we get more focus on in the show, we get a better sense of the world building and a better understanding of the consequences and motivations of each decisions made by the characters. That in part makes the show feel more satisfactory when characters who aren't Darcy or Liz appear on screen. While the movie tries to have things alluded to in the background, the limitation of a standard movie run time handicaps it compared to the tv show. In the tv show we also got brighter shots and more color in the costumes; such as getting to see Darcy in colorful vests and jackets more than we did in the movie. I missed 2 episodes, but that just means I get to go back and watch them when I can, thank you for the watchalongs Nerissa.

I remember watching bits of this as a kid with my Mom. I didn't care for this back then. Watching it now, I can see why she liked it. And now I can talk with my family members who have seen it! I can see it now. *Thanksgiving* "So, who all has seen Pride and Prejudice?" Oh, that'll be a conversation starter. I was reminded of Peaky Blinders, in a way, when it came to Lydia's situation. Like, "girl, what're you doin'?" Personally, I think this is the best version of the story. Since there's more screen time.

This was so much fun, thankyou! I saw the series when it was new (I was 10 or 11) and it was a big deal at the time; I don't think I saw it since then but the theme music gave me so much nostalgia. And Colin Firth's tiny half-smiles and smouldering gaze. ugh I'm dead. You keep apologising for being so into what's happening or sexy cast members or whatnot but like.. I LOVE how much you love things, it gives me life, and I've come to love all your watchalongs especially when it's something that's special to you. Always keen for them and I know many jailbirds are. Very fun series!!! As with the movie, the love story is pretty well made and fun to watch. It really makes a good work of building up the characters and making you feel something for them (like hating Caroline, or hating Wickham, or hating Lady Catherine (drink!)) and also, lots more of time working up details like Mary and her piano obsession, or Wickham... Or the friend and Capital capital, The dresses, I cannot comment cause I know nothing about regency, but they felt more natural than in the movie. Overall I'd say I liked it better than 2005 but! Since I already knew how things were gonna play out, I felt it dragged out at some points (not so much tho, these 6 hrs went by pretty fast). The movie also had more iconic scenes I'd say? I guess bigger budget And yeah I think Darcy was cuter in the series, like you can see how he kinda regrets being an ass at the beginning, then he grows... Also I wanna see Darcy and Bingley as a kids and how they became friends
