Thanks Mori! It's super fun to hang out doing the hobby. I was scratch building bases for my marines to prime up tomorrow. Obligatory advice is obligatory: pick one of these minis as your "First" mini. Once you finish it, NEVER paint it again. Don't come back and try to "fix" it. In 1 month, 1 year, 10 years when you're not feeling like you're progressing in your painting, you'll love to be able to compare what you make with your first mini Secondly in the future, you don't have to match the paint schemes on the box. Ultramarines are the default paint color for brand recognition for Marines. However, they're your minis. You can paint them however you want. I'm painting mine in black, green and silver. If you want to paint Blood Ravens, then don't let what's on the box's name or artwork dissuade you from that; paint freaking Blood Ravens. Follow the paint scheme for Blood Angels, then use a cream color for the shoulders, and you're pretty close.

It was so fun seeing Calli be proud of her creations one tip is to buy a wet pallete, makes it easier to thin the paints, and prevents them from drying up while you paint. Also, check out some of Squidmars videos for more painting tips

As a long time fan of the many different worlds of Warhammer, I was really excited to see you pickup Space Marine 2, but I am beyond thrilled to see you get into the hobby itself and enjoy it! It's an incredibly rewarding journey, and you did a really great job with your first minis! I've been slacking myself on the painting side, but watching along has gotten me pretty pumped to get a model back on my desk again. Really looking forward to some pics of your minis, and another stream. Think I'll paint along next time!

Never thought I would see the day when a Holo would paint 40k miniatures, glad that day finally happened and had a lot of fun with this stream. You did a great job with painting your first models and you are definitely way ahead of me compared to when I first painted. Had a blast painting my Dark Angels along with you and your models looked amazing. Love that you picked Blood Angels as your first army and they are a fairly easy but fun army to paint. Their lore is very epic and tragic with the story of Sanguinius and the effects of the black rage. Also, their playstyle in the tabletop game is very fun with a focus on melee and jump pack units. *In case you're interested in painting your Blood Angels lore accurately, below are some tidbits to help you with painting. Of course, feel free to paint your models how you like and enjoy. Though Blood Angels are mostly red, they do have different helmet colors depending on their role. yellow - assault (melee) red - infantry blue - heavy weapons/fire support gold - veterans Captains and lieutenants, don't really need a gold helmet, as they carry their barge of office on their right shoulder. So they can wear red helmets. Sergeants have black shoulder pads with a red trim. Death Company wear mostly all black armor.

I've been thinking about getting into the painting aspect of 40K but it looked a bit intimidating, but seeing you paint and having fun made it seem a lot more low stress than i thought it would be, I might have to go Monday or so to my local shop to grab some paints and minis. You did fantastic for starting off. I can't imagine painting in front of an audience let alone doing that my first time. I think you'll really like the hobby. There are many things to find to paint, 40K, TTRPG models, Dark Souls, or just any random cool model you can find on the internet of which there's a ton. With what you've started today you could easily make a Kill Team, which is a smaller battle version of normal 40K. I really hope you keep having fun with the hobby.

I've never painted a figure so it was very interesting watching someone new to it try it out! I hope you have fun and learn about painting figures! That was a fun stream! Thanks for sharing the start of the painting adventure with us. They came together really well, trusting the process usually works out . When it comes to paint thinning, I’ve found that applying it to the back of my hand tends to be a good gauge for the thickness. NBase and layer are also the same once you thin them. More water for base, less for layer, and they can reach the same consistency, so all you have to worry about is colour.

Never watched figure painting before. This was a pretty chill time. Except the camera halting from time to time. Camera-kun had no chill.

It's great watching people start painting miniatures. For anyone super new to painting Warhammer. 1) it's easier to paint the mini with the arms off. 2)when painting a unit it's easier to paint them whilst they are on the sprue, you can hang them to dry faster. 3) when you are mixing paint to come up with skin tone, use the back of your hand as a palette and to get the right tone. 4) oh and a odd tid bit, the game workshop website sells older models for semi reasonable prices, more often than not cheaper than auction sites.

Fantastic first time Mori! A technique that can really help make your figures pop out more is edge highlighting. Turn your paintbrush 45 degrees and just light touch the highest points of your figure after shading. It'll look great.

Would recommend plastic cement over superglue. Holds together a bit more permanently.

God, if more Holos get into Warhammer, battle reports would be sick. Also, if you have the Combat Patrol, and build it to the recommended kit in the rules, you can play the combat patrol game mode for 40k. It's a nice bite sized version of the big game with simpler rules and quicker game time. Plus it's just whatever is in the box is what you get on the board. So if you get Irys into it... 👀 Some tips for painting and undercoating: I live in a similarly humid country like Japan, I would recommend spraying a little closer to the model. Small, quick passes across the model on across the sides of the model. I would also recommend using hot TAP water (not a boiling kettle) and putting your spray can in it for less than 5 minutes to help build pressure rather than shaking the can for 5 mins. Just a small shake between each spray to help keep pressure. For painting, definitely use some paper towel to get the excess water off the brush after cleaning it when switching colours or thinning paint. I recommend sometimes rebasing the pot paint over the spray,since the pigment is different. But only if you're really fussed over the colours. For building: Like chat was saying, Tamiya plastic cement is really good and better than Citadels glue, as it has a little brush for easy application. They will be very easy to find at model kit stores or anywhere that sells Gundam kits. There is cement, which is in a white bottle and a bit thick or Tamiya Thin which is in a green bottle and a lot thinner. The plastic glue is safe on skin, just make sure it doesn't stay on there too long and avoid breathing the fumes. Be in a well ventilated room when using the glue. You can cut closer to the model to avoid having to file off a huge chunk of sprue, and clean it with the knife by lightly scraping and filing down the area. Sorry for the wall of text, but this hobby is a very large passion of mine and I love to help people out with getting into it, as it's also my job to as well. 😅 Super awesome to see your work Calli, hope to see more in future! P.S. I painted a model to represent Calli a while back and other Holos before it, I hope you are able to see it at some point.

You know for Cali's first time with painting little mini figures she did pretty good. They all looked really impressive, Love the detail on the really gold one that she did and the way she took her time and was able to get all of them looking great is amazing. And that's in spite of the fact that ghost cat was pretty much evil and kind of ruined one of them but Hey at least Calli was able to get it still paintable so yay Ghost Cat's evil was stopped......for now lol. Really though, you did a great job with your first and I hope you do more streams like this in the future so great job Calli!
